What is Performance Equine Bodywork?
Your Horse works hard for you. Reward your Horse with Performance Equine Bodywork.
The Masterson Method releases tension and soreness in the Horse by moving the major junctions through their range of motion in a position of comfort, allowing the Horse to actively participate in the work of releasing. It is a combination of movement exercises, accupressure, meridian releases, massage techniques and chakra balancing that helps your horse find relief from accumulated stress, helping the Horse relax and release tension. Performance Equine Bodywork is a great way to warm up or cool down your horse after a workout or event. Bodywork can be excellent support during injury recovery.
Stimulus and Response
I watch for the subtle changes in your Horse as I work. The contact is gentle, allowing the horse to move and release tension by moving through a normal range of motion in a position of comfort. As they do, releases begin to occur. From a softening of they eye, sighing, licking and chewing of the lips, shaking and yawning are all signs of relaxation. How do we know it works? The Horse tells us. Stimulus and response is how we train our horses, and the techniques I use key in to the sensitivity and responsiveness of the Horse.
Beyond Bodywork - Equine Education Programs
I offer a variety of horsemanship education programs in addition to equine body work and horse care.
Ground Work: Foundations for a Great Horse
I believe that all horses should have impeccable ground manners, respect your space and your safety. We see a lot of horses walking all over their humans, creating possible safety hazards and impeding the education of the horse and human. I can teach you and your horse to walk together, peacefully and safely. Little kids and big horses can walk side by side with ease.
Ground work is also the best way to teach yourself and your horse what can be done under saddle. Taking time on the ground to understand how your horse moves and responds to your cues and commands build a horse that is mentally, physically and emotionally fit. Talk with Will about connecting with your horse through Mindful Ground Work.
Horse Science - Connecting with your horse
I'm a teacher. I work with horse owners and their kids to help them learn about their horse. I have created custom education programs for home school students and teach Horse Science for a local independent school in Topanga. Hands on, interactive and fun, the Horse Science program can be tailored to your interests and needs. Teaching ground work, horse science, basic riding and natural horsemanship techniques are services I provide.
Nutrition, conformation, physiology, history, horse breeds and colors, anatomy, behavior, natural horsemanship, meridian and chakra awareness, bodywork and acupressure techniques, ground manners and ground work are all possible topics for your Horse Science classes.
Exercise - Physical, Mental and Emotional
Regular exercise is critical to your horses health. When you do not have the time to get them out to play and work, let us take care of that for you. Most exercise can be done from the ground through the Mindful Ground Work program - a series of fun ground work exercises that engage your horse Physically, Mentally and Emotionally.
Horsemanship, Equitation, Trail Lessons
I offer beginning Horsemanship, Equitation and Trail Lessons for kids and adults. Starting off with Ground Work and Understanding the Horse, we progress to basic riding techniques. Working on the basics in the arena, riders learn to connect with the horse and ride with a soft feel and light hands. Once the horse and rider are comfortable working together, Trail Lessons begin. Not trail rides, your Trail Lesson applies the skills learned in the arena and builds upon them.
Ranch Safety Reviews
Ranch reviews help you prepare for fire season with evacuation plans and fire preparedness. Together we can develop a plan for what to do when things go wrong, before they go wrong.
